Now that's a neat idea! The way I see it, ANYTHING that can measure flow will be an asset for head porting. Doesn't have to be anything real meaningful like cfm over a standard depression, just a way to measure the amount of air that moves through. That way you can check the head before you start then tell if you're doing any good. That's the main thing. I wouldn't think that actual cfm is as meaningful as an increase in flow. Of course it is if you need to compare to other makers though, so commercially you do need a standard of measurement, but for hobby work you don't.
I would think you could rig a junkyard mass airflow sensor up and read it. The early Mustang EFI 5.0L engines used one. Even if you just use a voltmeter to measure the difference at least you could tell if you're making one or not.
