He's nit-picking the 64 Classic in AMC -- the one I publish. For a normal cruiser I don't think the guy will run into any problems. I didn't look real close at the joints though -- the upper link should have heims on both ends to be flexible. The lowers shouldn't be as much of a problem. As Tom points out, that's why factory arms are pressed steel U shapes instead of boxes, and have big rubber bushings. The arms flex and the bushings have a good bit of give too. But replacement performance lower arms for all three and four link cars are boxed and stiff with stiff bushings. they don't flex much and make the car ride hard. One wheel on a curb will bind it a bit, but as long as you don't "romp on it" taking off there shouldn't be a problem. With the arms not flexing much it will ride hard on a rough road, almost like ladder bars. One wheel will only go so far up before it lifts the other side too -- 4-6" of travel difference is about it. Fine for a drag racer, but most daily dri
ven cars would want more. Ride will just be rough. come to think of it, with the stiff lower arms the upper link isn't going to move that much either. I don't think the system isn't safe, it will just ride rough on rough roads. 90% of driving is going to be on smooth highways though. It's not engineered as well as a stock car, but lots of rodders use the same type suspension with no complaints or binding enough to do any damage. I'm sure you COULD drive it hard enough to break something, but it wasn't built with a 258 six to be driven that way, just to mosey down the road.

Tom, I don't mind the criticism at all -- not my car. You bring out some valid points, I was just making some counter points.
