Pretty sure the 71 258 crank is different. Could probably be machined if you wanted to. Working from memory. So could be wrong. ------Original Message------ From: Sandwich Maker Sender: amc-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx ReplyTo: AMC, Rambler, Nash, Jeep and family Subject: Re: [AMC-list] My upgrades/conversions Sent: Oct 2, 2009 11:34 AM " From: "Thomas Garner" <Tgarner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> " " " I do like the idea of the 4.0 head. '70s-'80s have marginally better ports but '64-7 has the best chambers. i'm thinking your head on a '71 block with '80s pistons [they're taller for good 'squish']. is the '71 crank actually different from later 258s? it would be in the flywheel bolts... maybe a '71 232 could be rebuilt into a 258 with later crank and rods. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device from U.S. Cellular _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
