Re: [AMC-list] "big nut" axle pinion seal, available on RockAuto?!

If it's really the stepped seal, and not a flat seal from a later model that someone figured "should fit" and consolidated part numbers to, GET ONE. In fact, anyone with an American with the "big nut" driveshaft who plans on keeping it a while should probably consider ordering one! They ARE generally unobtainable. One showed up on e-bay a couple years ago and I lucked out and got it. I just put the most I would give for it ($7 or so?) and if no one else bid it would be mine... and they didn't. I don't run a "big nut" car now, but just in case...

By the way, that would be any 1950-55 Nash Rambler, or 58-65 American w/ any of the 196 engines or a 199.

I thought they were 100% unobtanium? Two choices, no less. Now I haven't
tried to buy one, but I might, for no good reason. Mine's not leaking. (Why
should I buy a fire extinguisher? I'm not on fire.)
