Re: [AMC-list] Chinese company buying Hummvee!

Except for the fact that the H1's were made by AM General and not GM. GM basically bought naming rights from AM General. H2's and H3's don't share anything significant with the H1.

I haven't heard this in the mainstream media but in case you didn't hear about it, they are actually planning to close the plant in South Africa (makes right hand drive versions) and move production of those vehicles to the current facility in Indiana.

Guys,
Considering that it's a Chinese company, I can see this being an in for the Chinese military to begin producing H1's if they acquire Hummer. The Chinese have for a while now, been rapidly building up their military ... too rapidly for some people's comfort in Washington and other nations.

Who else wants it? They probably want patents and tech, knowledge and
rights, maybe machine tools and such. Other than turning it into some
specialized vehicle, who wants one today? It's not a truck, its not a car.

And also nowhere near as good looking as the other not a car, not a truck vehicles: the El Camino (and GMC versions) and the ute's Holden sells in Australia. The H1 had the tough guy look down but I found the styling on the rest of them just too clumsy. If you're going to do ugly, go all the way. A proper ugly vehicle looks like something that's either arrived from another planet and/or would beat you up and take your lunch money.
