in this connection, the later intakes ['76 on] have more even fuel/air
distribution than the '60s one, intended for emissions reasons but it
helps power and economy too.

they mount the carb crosswise instead of parallel to the engine, so if
you don't have [or switch to] a throttle cable you'd have some
interesting linkage fabrication to do.
