Re: [AMC-list] He's BAAAACK! With a few new needs.....

Adjust the rear band (it's external), then drain and remove valve body. Clean. Could still be a sticky valve. If that doesn't do it, the seals in the rear servo are gone. You can remove the band servos with the valve body out. The seal is nothing but a big o-ring, can probably be found in a hardware store. If I were removing one I'd do both. Since the VB has to come out to get to them, may as well remove the servos and remove/clean the VB all at once. Only cost is a couple o-rings. If the spring in the servo were bad you're right -- slipping in 3rd. Of course it might slip a little in third now, but remember that internal pressure goes up with speed. So if the servo seal is bad, it might have enough pressure at high speed (over say 45 or so) to prevent slipping in third but not enough to prevent slipping in reverse. 62 is the first year of the T-35 (M-35). Should have a throttle valve cable. Make sure that's connected and moves freely. It might be sticky and not allowing enough pressure in reverse. Try lengthening the cable at the clevis by 1/2 turn or maybe a full turn. Much more than a full turn and the cable will bottom out when pulling a hill and kick-down way too often/soon.

Aside to Frank: Your ideas on the Flash-O-Matic? I'd guess you have already
'met' this issue...how'd you cure yours? I haven't yet encounted a 'smoked'
Flash-O-Matic, just a troubled one (or so)..the '65 American breaks a spring
on one servo, but that leads to slippage forward if I recall...I wonder if
this has done the same...
