An electronic ignition upgrade is fantastically worthwhile. With a
mildly better coil it will be even a little overkill. More than
"plenty" of spark is wasted effort and money.

For what it's worth, engine dyno software shows no appreciable change
in performance for larger valves. I doubt it's worth any effort at all
performance-wise, unless you spend the $$$$$$ to make it rev another
1000 rpm or more (up into the mid/high 5000's).

The turbocharger should eliminate small-valve problems, period, With a
good head rebuild and three-angle grind forced induction will overcome
far more restriction than head work, $ for $. It would negate the
low-speed cam too.

If there was some way to slow exhaust heat takeup through that long
path through the block, that might be worthwhile for turboing. Maybe a
good polish job on the exhausts only would help, but maybe not enough
to be worth it.

RPM is the limit with this motor with that crazy long stroke, and
induction is fine given the RPM limit. Then oiling and cooling would
matter next, etc.

I doubt it's really 138hp with a 2bbl as claimed, I bet it's more like
100 - 120. If you worked 150, 160 out of it, a little american would
SCREAM and you still wouldn't break anything. 4 - 6 psi boost should
achieve that without much pain. There's plenty of oil and water
plumbing sources for a turbo too, and room up towards the hood.
