My dad picked up an old Mercedes 190D with a 4 speed on the column when
I was in college. I really loved that thing, it was fun to drive and fun
to shift - although it would not go up a hill for love nor money.

I run into trouble every now and then with the Rambler, as I remember
the Mercedes and shift into 1st - but it's really reverse. Haven't hit
anything yet.
