We've been rained out a few times inthe past. We heard that Apache tent trailers are pretty light andun-complicated - so started searching for an Apache Eagle, Raven orFalcon. I got pics from the previous owner and posted them here:http://picasaweb.google.com/bruce.griffis/66ApacheEagle# Might have some scrubbing, sanding, painting, and cleaning to do. Willneed to check into canvas repair as well, in case there are holes tobe patched. But - it should be a pretty cool little camper. Just atent on a box - no stove, no water, no fridge, no toilet - but that'
swhat I want. And I think my Rambler should have no problems at allwith a 400 pound camper. Congrats Bruce!
Shortly after marriage in 78 Lori and I found a 63 Apache just like this one. Bought from a family with kids and when we pulled it from the drive way you thought we were taking the family pet! All standing and waving. We were lucky to have an 8'x10' add a room that simply zipped to the side and had screened windows and zippered door. So zip and a couple ploes we're set. EVERY time we went camping someone came over and asked to buy it.

Point is, we had a 75 Chevy Monza and knew that a camper was the only way we could afford to vacation and used it quite often with no problems! Previous owner told us how they even pulled with a Harley! and could take in back into the woods with no problems because of its size! Our 4 cyl Monza had no problem at any speed and no real difference in gas mileage. MANY times in driving I would "forget" it was there, panic a bit and look back and feel better seeing it in place.

I ended up making a shelf to go between the beds when open w/sliding doors. Places electrical outlets under it and made an expension cord to plug in outside. Kept it simple as it was. I hope I didn't bore most of the group, but BOY did that bring back GREAT memories. I would take another in a minute. Almost pulled a great lookin 63 Impala out of the junk yard then and would have been cool w/a car the same year as the camper. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Re-read your post about camping in the rain. Reminded of one time it was pouring and we sat and went over the plan, ran out and set it up so quickly that the bedding didn't get soaked. A breeze to set up too! Now I'm done! ThANKS!!!
