Re: [Amc-list] brakes

Same as the rotors on the small cars -- 11" (10.82"). To use 12" rotors you'll either need real low profile rotors or 16" wheels. Hmmm.... the 11" rotors will clear 14" wheels (stock steel, I don't think they clear a thick 14" cast wheel, they barely cleared my 15" aluminum wheels years ago), so you may get the 12" to fit with 15" steel wheels.

The rotors on the big spindle car are how big?
For 12" rotors I'd look at 90's Crown vic or 2002 Ford Explorer 2wd.
I believe the Explorer 2wd rotor is supposed to be the smaller of the two and more likely to work.
I know a guy over on one of the forums used the Crown vic rotors and have since heard that the explorer is a direct fit too but slighty smaller in diameter.
To use either of these you need to find drum brake spindles and knock the drums off.
I plan on investigating the Explorer rotor at some point in the near future for possible use on the conv.
I was going to go with redrilled 99-04 WJ rotors, but the Explorers won't need redrilled for the correct bolt pattern.
