With a standard 62 issue body, Yes, I'd say you would benefit by tying in the subframes.
One of the Powerblock shows on Spike built or is still building an altered wheelbase Ford.
I'd look there as they did some nice connectors in it.
  Didn't you used to fool with circle track stuff too? You porbably have a pretty goo dhandle on how to do it.
I'd avoid bandaid repairs on a car such as Casper. I'd pull the interior and build nice floor pans and connectors.
Fix it all once and be done with it!
   
There is a guy with a 401 in a 62 in the south east. Not sure what he did with it.
I know he is running a modified AMC 20 on a non torque tube setup.
  
  I can probably find some pics to send as to what beefiness they added to the 65 conv, but it's not something you can easily replicate with a lot of cutting and welding!

  I took, many, many pics of the conv on tear down, but, don't know if the conv specific stuff shows well as I wasn't thinking of it at the time.
