I believe that if a tranny fluid change kills a tranny it was going to die anyway!
I've done a few fuild only changes and a shop did a full flush on our Altima and it is fine.
I always try and stay on top of things.
   I do not have tranny problems with any of my vehicles.
Heat kills.
Best thing is a trans cooler on ANY vehicle.
I've seen published reports that too cool can do it too.
I don't really believe it.
Ever see a trans go out in cold weather? No, me neither...proly does happen though.
Theres a guy on the XJ list who lives in New England that runs a stand alone trans cooler on his 99 ram truck without the in rad cooler!
He has a gauge says it never exceeds about 150 degrees in the winter when towing. Going by published data his long warmups and cool operating temps should kill that trans. He is at way over the 100K mark with a trans people claim is junk! He tows and lot, I have seen pics of some of the outrageous oversized things he has towed!
I bought the biggest plate style cooler I could get and installed it in my WJ. I ain't taken no chances!
The trans fluid was flushed at 36K when I bought it. I plan to have it done at 56K. One of the things people don't like is the trans in these Jeeps. I pay close attention to it. Looking for a sign of slippage, so far it is good. I tow with it too and was nervous about it, but what are you going to do? I have a gauge I want to install but my frikkin list is so steenkin long I don't know if I'll ever get that far down it! 
   I also know flushes cost one heck of a lot less than an overhaul!
