[Amc-list] Guide plates Yes or No with early heads?

Hi guys,
I thought it was discussed before about not having to run guide plates on the early AMC heads, since they have built-in “slots” for the pushrods on the individual rocker arm heads.
 
So, question is, can the 1970-74 heads be run with out guide plates on roller rockers?  Thanks for the feedback.
