My 61 Americans had the road draft tube, 63s all had PCV. I've only had one 62 American, and that was so long ago I don't recall what it had. The photo in the 62 TSM shows a road draft tube, but page 15 in L-head engine section shows RCV as a California only thing. Same thing in the OHV section (page 16). 63 TSM shows PCV in the photos and mentions it near the end of the engine section with NO note that it's CA only. Just checked the 61 TSM, and it has CA only PCV (page 15 in L-head section). Everything before 61 had the road draft tube.

Just for kicks I checked a couple of my older TSMs -- 1952 and 1942, as well as a 41-48 TSM put out by Nash in the 50s. The road draft tube was in one of the engine illustrations in the 52, but there were no illustrations showing the entire engine in the older ones, nor any mention of crankcase ventilation or signs of it in any of the few photos. I'm guessing they had road draft tubes, but may have just had some other type of vent to let pressure out.

The 1963 195.6OHV has PCV, at least on the 2bbl; I think Joe has PCV on 
his 1bbl? He just posted about that and I've already spaced it out. His 
is 65 though I think.

My '59 crate motor (I love calling it that) doesn't have side covers, 
and I don't recall if the intake trough has the tapped hole. I DOUBT PCV 
existed then...
