I hadn't thought of them using the V-8 borg behind the 72 up style six, but that would explain the right side starter.
I'd guess the only issue may be the crank snout on the newer six, but that would be fairly easy to work around if needed.
  I don't recall if the Borg flywheels fit the newer engines or not as-is.
