Also as a 4x4, it also still gets decent gas mileage.  Eddie Stakes 4-cyl 4-speed gets 27 MPG if I remember correctly.  A 258/auto would be in the mid-high teens.

If there is any possibility that you will only keep it
awhile and then re-sell it, don't modify it.  It's
worth a whole lot more as an SX-4 than it is a Spirit.
