Re: [Amc-list] My Two Cents on Hydrogen etc

Even if the word- Rambler- isn't mentioned in the thread- I think it's a topic
worth keeping going and is very relevant to Ramblers-whether one is currently
contemplating converting one to an alternative fuel system or not.
Here's my reasoning Frank, and especially for anyone that might not see the
relevancy of this discussion to things AMC.
a) Gasoline has risen and is continuing to rise in price at an alarming rate.
Our AMC's run on gasoline. Diesel isn't cheap either- meaning that if you tow
your AMC to venues to show it and run it your ability to do so is
significantly impacted by the costs connected to doing so.
b)multiply one's individual cost, and perhaps availability, woes connected to
gasoline and multiply your personal worry/trouble by ten people, or hundred,
or a thousand that own and operate an AMC. A small percentage in the overall
motoring community- but quite large in the AMC one.If you are making economic
decisions as whether to show your AMC at AMC or even other venues or are at
the point of deciding whether to keep your AMC- consider that others are
looking at the same issue.
c) what happens when significant numbers- which in our community would be in
the hundreds- determine thy can no longer run or own their AMC- whom do they
sell it to- will the buyer be an enthusiast- geared to attending AMC events?
presumably more affluent to be able to do so- or will the "buyer" be a
wrecking yard? Or a collector that squirrels the car away. Or maybe the
present owner will keep their AMC but similarly- but for different reasons-
squirrel it away
d) if one is considering a modification to improve mileage or wholesale
conversion to an alternative energy source and perhaps powerplant using that
energy- then thoughtful discussion here coupled to productive research
elsewhere- and that word- productive- then is the whole crux of both the
discussion and the energy, time, and money one spends.
e)why here? Some of the names I see posting here I've seen for years. I feel
comfortable that I'll get an understandable and fairly balanced reply. Others
feel the same I hope. Try wading through topic specific forums elsewhere on
this subject and see if they pass the litmus test of understandability and
that you are getting a relatively unbiased flow of information that helps to
steer you in the right direction.
f) what other group is more appropriately primed , except for
Studebakerphiles, to look at solutions other than being the passive pummeling
bag behind whatever economic forces are driving gas prices up, and the ability
to enjoy AMC's down?

In any event, Frank, you're the boss. I hope you consider my case. Thanks.
 Steve
