Mallory has made several different models of distributors over the years. It's very possible that some models will indeed work with a generic GM cap while others won't. A 62 Nova V-8 would be a standard 283 SBC. Armand, it wouldn't cost a thing to take the distributor down to the local parts store and try a points type GM distributor cap. Might fit, might not, but won't hurt to find out! Rotor might be different, but if the cap fits I bet a standard GM rotor from the same era would too. All you lose is the caged wires -- you'd need a set of standard GM wires also.
