Did a quick search and there is allready a box out to do what I'd need.
I don't think it's real expensive if I couldn't talk Tom into helping me do one.
The one I saw has a simple toggle for Converter clutch and contact buttons for up-down shifting.
Would be way simple to build my shifter idea with the box.
Be even better if I devised a way to flip the shifters so the PRND shifter was on the right and the up down lever was to the left. Get the lever you used on the closest side.
  You have to bear in mind the idea for this shifter is not practicality, but rather for the uniqueness and retro feel of it.
Paddles on the wheel or the rotary all would work.
   Allmost intriqueing enough to make me want an automatic...allmost.
