Mark; I'll admit that you had good luck with your car
and someone with a 90s Pontiac (or add any US make)
will win that in their 200K miles they only had to
change oil and air freshners.
And just as many fer-inn cars owners will write in
about their piece of crap Mazda, or any other make,
and you can figure just the same ratio of US owners
will say the same thing.
US cars did go through a period of Junkdom but by the
90s, and earlier in most cases, they had their cars
dialed in.
Junk is junk, no matter where it is from. With cars
putting more and more unneccesary bling on cars you
will see more problems.....Russ
