Russ, as an example of the complexity of all that
"bling" here are the circuits going through the
A-pillar into the door on that 94 Olds:

motorized rear view mirror.
automatic shoulder belt retractor
automatic door locks (master panel)
power window motor (master panel)

Not installed but possible:  stereo speaker wires.

And now days there would be side air bag power wires
and possibly programmable door lock circuits, not to
mention theft detection.

On my 65 Rambler and my 77 Gremlin:

0 wires.

Whatever happened to KISS.
