Congratulations! Hopefully the smoke is from all your loosening and
soaking and goes away. A carb rebuild would be a good idea.

Nahh, you're screwed :-) If it's just hairline, I wonder if
red silicone would work?! Can't hurt! Takes a whole day to cure
though before you apply heat.
