I advised the tuneup on the principal that he would be fixing the car as he obviously seems intent on doing the job right since he started doing a full brake job BEFORE getting it running.
  The only possible "waste" of money on doing a tuneup on a car that one intends to fix is the plugs if you oil soak or fuel soak them.
   I just figured why not do the tuneup now, instead of getting it to putt on a few cylinders.
Yeah, given paience or luck you can get the thing running on the old stuff once you sort out the good from the bad, but???
