[Amc-list] Bigger Brakes

The 232 is heavier as well

I have never regretted doing brake upgrades on my cars

The extra money involved gets recouped the first time the car stops when
maybe it would not have before

My 64 Classic has late model Matador disks on the front a relatively cheap
upgrade

My daily driver Holden Commodore has about 3 grand of brake upgrades but
then it has about 50% more power than it came from the factory with.

The stock brakes were pretty inadequate with the factory power level

Think about it Tom! The 232 has a good bit more power than the 196. More
towing/hauling capacity and speed potential means you need better brakes! A
common mistake among novice hot rodders is to stick a big engine in a little
car with stock brakes... need I say more?

" The 232 car got Bendix 9x2.5, the 195.6 got Wagner 9x2. That makes no
sense
" to me as the two cars have got to be the same weight, or maybe the 195.6
" heavier!

i don't recall where i saw it - amc/rc docs maybe? - but iirc the '65
196 220 was 2640lb shipping weight; the '66 199 220, 2625.
