Does any one know of a faster steering box for a AMC, some thing with
less turns lock to lock?

Ok, Kennedy American http://kennedyamerican.com/ can get your AMC
steering box rebuilt and with something in the neighborhood of 3
turns lock to lock. That about as good as it gets for reciprocating
roller ball steering. I tried both specialists in rebuilding Mopar
and GM Saginaw steering boxes and never got an answer form the GM
specialists, but the Mopar gave me about the same price for
rebuilding the unit as Kennedy , so I just had it sent to Kennedy and
had him have his people do it. I think we has them redone in Columbus, Ohio.

If you are wanting rack and pinion steering set up you are on your
own except for 68 to 74 Javelin and AMX . A guy in Kentucky has
designed a full new front suspension kit with a cross member and rack
and pinion steering. A web site you can see this is at the NAMDRA
forum web site at : http://amcdragracing.com/viewtopic.php?t=295
under the suspension topic. He wants $2700 and before any
falls over , that is ball park for what the Mopars guys are doing on
there new suspension setup on the E body Mopars. If I had not already
spent the money to have the front end of my in progress resto mod 69
AMX already redone and the steering box rebuilt already I'd gone for
this setup myself. But he came out a little too late wit it for me.

You can see pictures of my 1969 AMX being redone in my web photo
album at : http://picasaweb.google.com/daummramc1/AMX1969
and read the continuing saga of my restofication of the car in the
NAMDRA newsletter. thanks, LRDaum
