A: A couple things come to mind. Alcohol laced fuel evaporates very quickly. 
Sticking ball check for the accelerator pump will allow fuel to be drawn in 
as the engine cools. Last, the fuel pump may have detritus from the tank 
stuck in the inlet valve of the fuel pump. I have blown out twigs and all 
sorts of stuff in Jeeps and AMCs that sat awhile (including my '82 Spirit)
   I add a clear fuel filter in the hose just before the pump.

I am looking for advice on why my 68 AMX may not be starting. If I  
leave it sit for 4 - 5 days I have to pour gas in the carb to get it  
to fire. It does not take much but if I don't put any gas in the carb  
it just cranks over without firing. I have only had it for about a  
month so I don't know too much about it. It does start very well as  
long as I start it every day or two. It has the original AFB carb but  
the guy I got it from said it had been recently rebuilt.
