We used to call all of these things "panel trucks" where I came from.

There are actually a number of vehicles that were manufactured as
a variation of what we now call a Chevy Suburban or IH Travelall,
some of which were wood bodied station wagon looking things
and functioned as such. Not to forget the Desoto Suburban which
was a stretched 4 door sedan with wood grain sides and the
passenger compartment extended into the trunk, but it was not
a truck. Also variations of the "panel truck" one of which was the
FARGO manufactured by Chrysler in the very early days and
extended down through the years. Initially in one guise it was a
panel truck with a removable rear seat that allowed it to function
as a family sedan when it was not being used as a truck targeted
at small family run businesses that could not afford to own two
vehicles and needed one of them to be a truck. This vehicle was
manufactured in the late 20's and early 30's about the same
time Walter P started manufacturing and selling Chryslers under
his name.

There of course was multiple variations and I remember going
into a Fargo show room in Istanbul in the early '60s and saw
a ulitarian vehicle that was more on the order of an early Toyota
Land Cruiser than a Dodge Pick Up truck so the name did carry
on for a long time and was decidedly different in various off shore
markets.
