Re: [Amc-list] Who needs 235/60/14's?

Tires are one of those things that tick me off.
You never know what your getting, how long they'll really last and if the place you buy them from will get them balanced properly. Then if you have problems it seems it is blamed on alignement, tire pressure or road hazard damage. Now, you've got places liek Wally World tell you they won't mount tires cause it's not an original equipment size. Even if you show them specs, etc: They won't even let you sign off on a waiver!
The local shops which I'd love to support have ripped my off and I'm tired of it. Sears is the only place in town I trust to do right with a good balance job etc: But they are expensive and my lovely wife of 20 years cannot see past the dollar sign...
An other note on the front of the American I have a set of Kelly Chargers that came off the Altima. The local Eddies tire shop could not get them balanced on the Altima and they always vibrated. I stuck them on the front of the American for fit testing only. I mounted them myself on 15X7" steel wheels. When I got it on the road I test drove it in town, no vibration up to 45 mph, so I hit the interstate. They do not vibrate one bit and I've had them up to 90 mph... Now wouldn't that tick you off? Paying someone to balance you tires, check for bent wheels etc; Only to have them say it's bad tires, then find out they are in fact fine!
In the spring the Dakota will need new tires. I dread the experience...
