Arfon, visually there is no difference between a 63-64 Classic and Ambassador that can't easily be changed. The car could be an Ambassador with a Classic deck lid and tail light lenses just about as easily as it could be a Classic with an Ambassador nose. The later is just the most likely, as front end damage is more common. The serial number is really the only sure-fire way of telling -- the door plate from 63 on is attached to the door, which could easily be changed as well. In reality even the welded on serial number plate could be removed and welded to a different car without much hassle, and if carefully done it would never be discovered. 

On the rear the only difference between a Classic and Ambassador is the name/trim plates and the tail light lenses. Ambo and Classic lenses are identical except that Ambos have two chrome channels over the molded in ridges on the lenses. I have the slightly classier looking Ambo lenses on my Classic.

I saw '770' in the pictures, it's a Classic!

An Ambassador would have been a 990.

I can't believe you guys chatted so long about door codes!
