not all diesel oils, though.

on the back of every quart you'll find a little 'api rated' logo;
these days it'll probably say 'sm'.  spark rated oils rated 'si' or
earlier - which are hard but not impossible to find - still have the
high level wear protection package.

diesel oils are widely available with two ratings; 'cj' [which does
-not- mean 'for jeeps' ;^>] has reduced antiwear additives, and 'ci'
which like spark oils still has high levels.

check the api rating logo when you buy your oil.  [nb. 'api' is the
american petroleum institute]

you can also get gm engine oil supplement, which is concentrated
antiwear additives.  i'm going to.
