[Amc-list] Re; BBD carb 'Adjustment'

Snip
I had some problems with my daughters 83 Spirit with
258 and BBD carb. after setting the timing to 8 BTDC, I can't get
the idles to below 900-950. All of the adjustment
screws are out (ie, not touching anything) but it
won't adjust any lower.

Possible problem area's;
The idle speed control motor is misadjusted.
The linkage from the choke to the fast idle cam is bent
The throttle butterflies are not closed all the way due to
a burr or something internal to the bore of the carburetor.
I can get all of mine to idle at about 400 rpm when all
of the adjustment screws are backed out all of the way and
the idle speed control motor adjusted correctly when
the timing set at 8-10 degrees.
