[Amc-list] Scrambler clone on ebay

OK, I will throw two in even though they are not AMC (I passed on a number of those in my days as well) as they are the most significant. First was in 1987, Kenosha WI. A guy had a legit 69 Pontiac Trans Am for sale, first year made. It was a running, driving car that had been repainted. Still had the correct hood and side scoops. The body work was very wavy (which by the way is why I passed on it) but the paint was nice (didn't understand how a guy could lay down a good paint job but suck at body work). Plus the color was changed from the original to a metallic gun metal gray. The car was complete for $3500 (I am sure he would have taken $2000-2500). Now, a good one is going in the 6 figures.

Second one I passed on which I now wish I hadn't was in 1989. It was a 1963 split window Corvette with fuel injection. All original but the paint was checked over most of the car. At the time, I thought, this is only a $10,000 car with good paint and that the cost to get it there along with the $8500 he wanted for the car was going to be more than it was worth finished. Mistake today, but back then, a decision based on current market and not future value.

I guess if we could predict the future, we would all be rich. Who knows, the car craze could drop and that $100,000+ big block Cuda might not be worth what you paid for it two years ago. The good thing for us AMC guys is our cars are still way under value for what we have. Getting hurt on SC/Rambler, 390 or 401 Javelin or AMX or any special model AMC most likely will not ever happen. I can only see them going up from here.
