[Amc-list] Off with it's head!

When you get the head apart I'd take it to a shop and have them
magnaflux it for cracks. About $50, but worth it if the engine shows
signs of having been run hot. I don't think so from your description,
but it won't hurt to have it checked while off. 

See if you can find a small brush that will fit in the valve guides.
Soak it with good solvent and clean inside the guides as well as the
valve stems.
