Sorry if I am repeating what has already been said, I just saw this and thought I'd chime in, since Webers have been on my mind lately... On the 232 you might be able to use the 2 barrel intake from a later 258, so that you dont' need to 2-into-1 funnel type plate Weber makes. That's what I am doing, with a 4.0 head on 258 block. Weber 32/36 seems to be loved by everyone....I had one on my 258 very briefly, a long time ago, don't remember much about how well it performed. I now have a Weber 38/38, it seems to be overkill....I've played with the jets and cannot get more than 10 mpg city out of the thing. Of course, my engine is melange of components that weren't really meant to work together. I just sent a crusty old 32/36 I once had on a BMW 2002 (they seem to be popular for just about every application) out to get rebuild this week to put back instead of the 38/38. The air cleaner is noisey, though I suspect there are quieter aftermarket (aftermarket part for an aftermarket part?) kits available. "I have been told by a couple of guys that replacing my Carter WCD carb on my 232 will improve the throttle response quite a bit, I would hope so for $400. +. I ended up replacing the insulator below the carb on my car as the original was all cracked and fell apart when I removed it from the bottom of the carb yesterday. Blaser was the only vendor that had a NEW insulator (with both gaskets included). There are darn few used insulators out there and I was afraid they would break up as mine did. So I bit the bullet and got a new one. I should have the old American convertible running again this weekend.
