Hey, I was working on the philosophy that if it wasn't broke people wouldn't be reading up the Yorks!!!
Seriously for a driver, especially if it's a going to 134a, I'd not fool with it. To me it seems more practical to swap it out. It's one instance where RM isn't really RM. Your likely looking at hose replacements anyways, then leaky seals on the York. A Sanyo Or Sandon can be had for $200 or less, plus the adapter brackets. Hoses have to made either way.  Dryers can be hard to locate too, so there's another set of custom lines.
  At least you know when you are done you've got a fairly efficient compatable compressor, hoses, seals, that will last for many years.
  Now if your like me and have R-12 and your sure the system doesn't leak, then leave it be and drive it.
