The first paragraph should be a statement informing the hobbiest of the
incredible parasitc drag these old monsters put on the engine!  Then a
few
links to adapter brackets for Sandon or Sanyo? [whatever] compressors.
Then for restorations get into the facts and specs on the Yorks.
  I for one would not use one on anything that was not a full blown
restoration. They are big/heavy/noisy/vibrating power suckers!!!...

Don't forget expensive and getting harder to find parts for,

using the philosophy of; 
"if it ain't broke don't fix it" 
running out to spend more money on an updated compressor and assorted
mounting hardware is not necessarily  the first thing on my list of
things
to do. 
I have one Sandon or Sanyo on my shelf complete with misc. mounting
hardware and 3 cars with (so far) working York (or whatever) 1 cylinder
compressors and 2 spare York compressors sitting next to the Sanyo. 
"Sides the parasitic power losses in the York are workable on my Spirit
other wise I would have changed it out years ago. 
Now if you really want to see a power sucker in operation take a look 
at the Big V Twin York type compressor used on MOPARS, when 
that thing kicks in, even big V8's grunt a bit. The slant 6 almost comes
to a stop.
