Thanks. I know you said that before but for some reason, I was so under 
the impression that I would have to use the spacers that I just wanted 
to double check.

this is the first time my head has been off the motor. can I re-use my 
head bolts or do I need new ones?

head bolts are 1/2" on all '64-'06 sixes except '81-6, which were
7/16" instead.  that can be handled too.
