Just a note -- I looked at the 1951 Nash brochure at www.route66rambler.com (great collection Mike!). The Greenbrier wasn't the model with woodgrain around the window pillar area, it had a darker color paint (along with the roof). The text on the Rambler page refers to a "Suburban" model, which would likely have the woodgrain. There's a better pic in the 52 "Golden Airflyte" brochure. Still doesn't show tailgate, but the trim appears to wrap down enough in the rear that I suspect the tailgate was woodgrained like the 60 in the ad (but not in 1960!). The Nash Suburban (1946) had woodgrain sides as well. Don't know if any were made after 46, but there's one at the AACA museum in Hershey. The 69 "American Motors Family Album" just shows a 46 model, and states that there was "limited availability". The same book clearly shows that all two-tone 58-60 Americans had the window pillars the same as body color with the roof a different color, nothing like the 51-54 models. Obviously the painter of the 60 used a 51-54 as an example. It does give the car a classier look -- less utilitarian, though utilitarian is all AMC intended it to be in 58. Mike has a copy of "American Motors Family Album" on-line. Go to http://www.route66rambler.com/links.html and scroll down to the link. Lots of reference material on this site. Mike -- the thumbnail of the 55 catalog on page 3 takes you back to the first page, not to the catalog. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
