Well I took the four hour drive to NY to pick up the SC that had been on eBay about a month ago but it required way more work than I wanted to undertake so I am sure it will be popping back up for anyone who wants a solid restoration candidate.

I was really looking for a car that was in need of some moderate body work and a paint job or one with a decent body but in need of a drive train rebuild or replacement. Although this car had some great parts (including a cross ram!) and a newly rebuilt engine and tranny, the body needed more attention than I have time to give it before this summer so I regretfully passed on it.

The owner is a good guy and very fair so if anyone else is interested in the car I am sure he would be very interested in talking to you.

What I would really like for a new toy is a convertible so if anyone hears of a solid body V-8 Rogue convertible popping up, please contact me at d.curtis@xxxxxxxx And thanks to those who responded to the SC clone convertible that had been on eBay a month or two ago. Unfortunately it was a six cylinder auto car which is not what I am looking for so I passed on that one as well.

Jim, I've got a couple pics of this thing, circa 1969. The best one is in Foster's "The Story of Jeep", a full page ad -- but at reduced size so the text is unreadable. There are several pics in it. Another is in "Ultimate Truck & Van Spotter's Guide". There's a notation that the camper sleeps four. I recall seeing more info on it somewhere, but can't seem to locate it now. Notice how the camper seems awfully long in the back for a CJ? About four feet hang off the back -- with a "pony axle" underneath to carry the added weight. IIRC the tires were 13" or so trailer tires, but couldn't find a clear enough pic or any info to confirm. The hweels on the pony axle are inset a bit.

I tripped over this while checking for Gladiator stuff. Looks like a CJ with
a camper? I know the Jtrucks came stock with a camper body, but never saw a
CJ?

I have a possible buyer for an OHV 196 oil pan. He
needs it for his 196 L-Head engine. Are the oil pans
the same between the cast iron OHV and L-Head engines?

The following link will lead you to my main Photobucket album.
You can see some initial pics of my gauges install in the 69 American album.
It is snowing here and I couldn't get to the store to get some fleckstone granite paint so I'm stalled right now :[ At least it is going to work though!
It's a major improvement over the original.

hey frank, weather got a little better so i ended up
gettin everything mounted before i got your email
about wanting sketch of brackets. next time i get them
taken off i will do that for you.

i had to machine down the hubs a fare amount. i need
to find a proportioning valve. having that rear axle
lockup issue i knew i would have. not real bad tho,
only when i have the clutch pedal in and hit the
brakes hard. i guess there is a resudual pressure
valve in the line somewhere also. i have a fare amount
of brake drag. seems to be only mostly on the left
side. right side had hardly any heat in it, but left
was hot and pulled to the left now. there is a little
disk shaped "block" that the brake light switch is on.
would that probably be the residual pressure valve for
the front? it has the one line in, and then splits
into 2 lines going to each front wheel. then in the
middle has the brake light switch. then on the rear
brake line, on the right side of the firewall where it
starts to run under the car, there is a small
"coupler" looks like linking 2 metal brake lines
together. i have seen residual pressure valves that
look like this. would that be the one for the rear
brakes? i plan to go to disks on the rear when i get
the money to get the parts for that and get the issues
for the front brakes worked out. brakes seem to work
well, but the pedal goes all the way to the floor. i
have blead the crap out of them. will mess around with
them some more see if i can get them the way i like
them. i like my brakes touchy and right THERE. well,
till the next update.

i also forgot to mention about the disk brakes. on the
hubs, you should put in longer studs. with the
aluminum wheels i got to put on my car with the drums,
the studs were just barly long enough to go to the end
of the lugnuts. the drums were alot thinner on the hub
face than the disks. now, the studs are only about
half way thru the lugnuts. between the disk being a
little thicker than the drum, and the aluminum wheels
being thicker than the steels, i wont drive much
untill i get new studs. just enough to get the other
little bugs straitend out on the brakes. i think its
safe enough how far they are on right here around my
block. not takin it out on the freeway thats for
sure...

can anyone tell me the size of "knurl" used on the
hubs? im guessing thats the splined head part that is
pressed in the hub? i hate having to tear something
apart, then hunt for the parts before i can put it
back together. id rather wait till i got the parts,
then tear down, and rebuild. would be great if someone
had any idea of the size. i am unable to find anything
about them in my tsm. thanks. hope everyone had a good
weekend.
