A lot depends on what you want from the car and where did it sit?
If it's a barn/inside storage car with good plastic and such, these pieces are getting very hard to find and should be saved if you can.
I bought a 73 two door that had been stored inside on a dirt floor. I sold/horse traded off more of these car than I ever dreamed was possible!
If you have space and time you should do fine. Ask anyone in Southern Califorinia/New Mexico/Arizona that has a desert queen Hornet/Gemlin/Spirit how the trim is inside it!

I was just kidding, it's not for sale!
I've tried to get a second one so I didn't have to dissassemble this one and had no luck at all! I hate to take it apart as it works flawlessly, but what are you gonna do??!!

it's a pity the '99-up 4.0 head's ports are so small - it has an iron
split exhaust that'd be excellent for this, but they don't fit well on
any earlier 199/232/258/4.0 head.

clifford has a pair of shorty headers, but they'd probably melt under
turbo heat, especially if you wrapped them to boost turbo power.

i don't think it would be a challenge to mount a single turbo just
behind the spring tower.

i think it would be fun to do to an eagle sedan. -lower- it, regular
hornet/concord hd rear springs -under- a jeep mj axle on the back,
regular sedan - probably v8 - front springs. ditch the eagle flares,
find a good bodyman to flare the steel fenders a little more and fit
16x8 jeep wrangler wheels with something like 235/60s. true track
diffs f&r.

there'd be quite a bit of extra weight with the t/c and front drive
parts, but the extra traction would let it launch like blazes.

The plastic trim can be removed by gently sweeping the car clean!
This makes it easy to locate all of the mounting hardware which
will still be in location an not rusty.

I just looked for what I though was Clifford's on line catalog. It has
been a bit since I looked for it. It seems that Clifford's web site is
now used as pointer to direct you to various suppliers. Is it because I
can't figure out how to use it or is Clifford no longer supplying parts?
I don't know why I would expect the headers to melt though as long as
they are quality parts.

Snip

The extra weight sure would be counterproductive though, once all four
wheels hooked up it would fall on it's face.
There is plenty of traction available with tire technology at the
present that not only would trying to set up four wheel drive be very
expensive but also very heavy.
At least that is my thoughts on it for what it is worth.

However for those guys looking at using later axles for some projects or
another, there is still the use of Chryco Mini Van wheels and Ford
Bronco Wheels that have some interesting back spacing to them and are
available in Steel in 15 inches and better I assume but I have 15 and 16
in aluminum here at the house.

well amc friends, i am now home from iraq for good. got home, changed, unloaded all my gear. stuck the key in my 62 classic, pumped the go pedal about 2 times, and she fired RIGHT up. nothin like gettin home from iraq, and goin for a cruise around town with the wife next to me in the rambler. hehe.

so anyway. i think it was frank who mentioned the idea of popping the hub off the front drum and finding a rotor that would slip right over it and fabricating my own caliper mount. i have a mustang II disk brake kit. the rotors/hubs will not fit on my spindles. the bearings are all different and they are set in about 1.5" to far. so i think im going to find a rotor that will actually slip over my hub and modify my mustang II caliper mounts. see how well all this turns out. i plan to let everyone know what rotors i found that fit, and what i have to do to the caliper mounts to make them fit when i get it all done. hopefully it turns out nice.

i noticed when i fired it up this time however.... its burnin oil now. i guess my valve guides are finally gone. has about 7500 miles in the last 5 years on unleaded fuel. i am unable to get lead substitute aditive stuff here. cant find any atleast. motor still runs good, just blows a cloud of smoke when i leave the stoplight or at higher rpms if im sittin still and put my foot in it. guess its time to get REAL serious about finding me a 304 for the transplant. anyone got one they want to "donate" to my cause?? lol. if anyone on the list has one they want to get rid of, and only a few hours drive from lawton oklahoma im interested. now that im home and have some time to kill.

yeah, it doesn't!

But BLACK plastic interiors at least in post-70's holds up far, far
better than lighter colors. I collected a lot of plastic parts
to get any decent ones (I'll be dumping on ePay etc the unused
lot "soon").

I'm sure it's colored with plentiful cheap carbon, and it seems
to block the UV that does the damage (I assume). Black interior
parts seem to look twice as good or better.

Did you keep your Rambler seats in the "up" position on that ride with your
mate? If so, I'd bet that the first thing that you did was "NOT" just go
and fire up that Rambler...

(I'm surprised I can remember about that, so far back...)
OK, sorry. Don't mean to be personal or nothing... Glad you're back & OK
& good to go on the old car there.

Thanks for your service...glad to see you made it home safely.

AMC time now.....a 304 should not hard to fine as a lot of people are

Brien,

Here is what you should use in that project:

This is final:

Use a T3 .63 a/r turbine and .50 T04E hybrid compressor.
Less lag yet it can support hi-horsepower.

For a 'Street Turbo' AMC 6 :

contact Crane Cams for a Turbo Application -
install their cam & springs & keepers & locks.

if you're good with research, some trucks ran sodium cooled

use the '91- '93 JEEP 4.0 head & a '2000 intake / TB.

use a Pontiac Sunbird Turbo ECM > same as the Turbo

plenty of places online to find the alum. tube for plumbing
air from the blower.

look at specs for intercoolers > eBay to buy > when I

eBay is a good place to look at wastegate controllers and
such. nice thing is they've been around now for a decade
