Also on that web site there is another SC along with a Spirit doing a burnout, page 7. SC on pages 14,19. BBG AMX on page 23. Les? SC on 25. AMX X Rated on pg 36. If this has already been brought to light, my apologies.

Mark,

I can haul it pretty close to you (Ohio/PA border) if the list decides the car is going east
and ask me to help. I will pass right by where the 65 is currently located on the way to
fetch the charity AMX... The car is in VT, correct?

If you can get someone to meet me in that general area I am open to helping out with the
65...

Peter

Damn why do cars like this have to be clear across the country. I'd buy
the wagon in a heart beat. A paint job and some minor work and it would
be a real nice daily diver. Unfortunately me being in N.Y. puts the
kibosh on it due to shipping costs. :-(

Hey, all,

I had a chance to get back under the Spirit last night and here is what I found.

First the movement wasn't as much as I first thought, but still any is not normal. I took the retainer straps off and pulled the joint from the yoke. Everything is really grungy in this area from a pinion seal leak. I cleaned everything up and found that the retainer straps have been over tightened a time or two making for a loose cap to yoke fit for so long it actually worn marks into the straps. The nubs in the yoke appear to worn as well, but only about .010 each for .020 to .025 actual total slop. I resurfaced the mating area of the straps removing .025 or so to give me more squishnocity on the u-joint caps. On reassembly I inserted a .010 feeler gage on one side to center the joint in the yoke. This should probably be okay, but I'll keep my eye out for a replacement yoke as that seems to be where the failure lives.

It's a 10 bolt or (AMC 15?) rear end, are they all alike. I have a 71 parts car.....

Jack

No, I've not heard back from the guy I found on the Tractor site.
I'm hoping he will get back to me, but maybe he already left for the haul he wanted to tie this trip to and won't be interested?
I should have got back to him quicker, but it's been a long painfull boring week and it is hard to concentrate on this stuff right now.
I'm open to hauling offers up till the time I find someone!
The car does not have to arrive here anytime soon. in fact it would be easier on my wife if I did not dump this on her right now. The main things is to get it out of Andrew's yard and safe. In 5-6weeks time I will very likely be able to come get it myself! So if anyone is interested in storing it in the area, let me know, that could work too, depending on details of course!

I thought Jack made up that word squishnocity but I
looked it up:

Wikipedia defines squishnocity as:

(1) Less playocity, like when you tighten up something
that has too much loosocity, or

(2) The feeling that the supervisor of a charity
project (like a charity car restoration project) gets
in his gut when the original donor of the car makes a
stink about the slow progress on the car and folks in
the charity organization all have good reasons (or
excuses as the case may be) for not having helped or
not having known about the project.

Sorry Tom and Frank. Couldn't resist. I hope you
will take this in the vein that it was meant. Good

I also have a distributorless model 4.0 from a 2001 XJ available:

and a few V8's, including an unassembeled machined 304:

I'm located in Highland, MI - the one in Oakland County. I'm about 5 miles NE of the intersection of I-96 & US-23 (find Brighton and go north). As you can see, they are both out and ready to go, so email me off-list and I'll send my phone number.
