" Hello all! I'm looking at getting an a-b type car for not much money, and I
" found a 1988 Eagle Premier ES for sale.
"
" The problems are a burnt-out "air compressor clutch" and a driver's seat

" part to the air conditioning? Is the vehicle otherwise driveable with this
" problem until I would get it fixed?
sounds like it - i don't know what other air compressor the car would
have. a/c compressors definitely have electric clutches; that's how
they cycle on and off.
if it isn't seized you should be able to unplug it and just have no
a/c. of course if it's burned out it may be functionally 'unplugged'
already...
two notes you might be interested in:
1. if you ever need tranny svc and have a hard time, it's a zf also
used in some fwd volvos, in the '80s/'90s at least.
2. the 'prv' [peugeot-renault-volvo] v6 line was supposedly sold to
hyundai who improved on its reliability. this would probably only
be worth following up if you ever need major engine work or a
transplant.
