Re: [AMC-List] shipping a hood

Brian, if it is that close to you, it would be in best interest to go pick
it up. I shipped a 70 Javelin hood from Houston to Los Angeles a few months
ago, and shipping was $480. The company would later reduce it to around $200
as the buyer, who paid shipping costs, was a good customer. Regardless, with
fuel prices high, many shippers are tacking 'fuel surcharges' onto larger
items like hoods, fenders, and what not. I just sent a pair of fenders, this
time by FedEx up to Rick Johnson in MA, shipping was $93 for the set, not
bad, and I used a furniture box.

If you have any furniture places in your area, or exexcise equipment places
near you, go dig thru trash as you will find some really good sturdy boxes.
On the hood, I used bubble wrap around all corners, and places thin foam on
front outside of hood. Then I cut the box to fit the hood, using lots of
tape, so it conforms to the hood itself. Never have had one damaged.
Possibly cheapest way to ship it is FedEx, then UPS. Greyhoud is a
possibility but a pain in the ass. Good luck,
