Hi Jon!
The last time we talked you were trying to get the new carb mounted. It's
nice to see it coming along. Looks good!
You'd better finish it up while you've got the chance. Before you know it
you'll be busy with a wife, kids, and a monthly payment on a Matador station
wagon.
The only one I can help with is number 7. These should be available new from
any of the AMC vendors. I think I bought mine from American Performance, but
you can also try Kennedy or American Parts Depot.

sitting at my DeLL rig, half watching SQUAWK cnbc on my 7" flat
screen,
[ my participation in the Flat Screen Consumptive Revolution ],
I flashOmatic'd to the '68 - '71 street racing era of around here:
an eclectic mix of warehouse workers, construction
understudies & up 'n coming Bank Tellers - car junkies,
'Brothers in Arms' >
but this one Saturday Afternoon blew up in memory :
a recall'd conversation ABOUT AMC as : 'that Rambler car is a Joke' .
I was hangings' my HUDSON on the ShopRite tarmac
with some MoPar knuckle dredgers, enjoying the Sunoco
260 wafting the lot, in rolled a '70 Machine - the
First I'd seen ever -
and it sounded 'Suite 1' as it Tached a 'Blip' - trolling
in Neutral - thru the lot - not stopping - just 'post - pissin'
for the Blue Oval nest nearest the Exit -
Up came the wtf is that quizzies from bewildered future Wal Mart
Big 3 participants - 'dunno' - sounds nice - yeah - cool paint -
yeah - fuck that > it's a Rambler > it's a Dog......... and
wtf'ss a Rambler? got tossed - and it was off wall from there.
Testimonies of how that Machine would be punished by
Mouses' VW or 'ball-less' Buicks > the Honors
were passed around but I stayed out of the conversation,
oddly as my 'HUDD' stuck out like a Cheyrnobl Mushroom..
UNTIL....... one bright guy who could read, and exercised this rite
piped up with : " nah,....... you're all full of shit....... that car
would put you all away..... the AMC Machine has a 390 and
is close to 400hp stock.......it'd eat your Lunch - dipsh*t........"
I stood and listened to the cigarettes butts stumbling across
the Tarmac , bouncing off the knuckles & elbows of our Street
is Neat valedictorians - the silence was 'vacuous' - buhht.......
interest about AMC & ensuing conversations were genuine -
except for the one hold-out, spouted while porpoising a Budwiser /
Marlro combo between dumbly unshaven grins - our Mascot.
The long and short of it:
AMC's were considered 'Expensive' - cool, but Expensive
to buy and build.
They didn't know where the Dealership was located either.
Prices came up - " ...?.. I could buy a.." yah-da-yah" for that !
yah-da-yah...?
AMC's were not covered a whole lot after the NASH advertising
budget was lost to a penny pinching corporate makeover.
AMC spent the monies in the 70s' for very hip Ads, but.......
suddenly appearing on the 'Scene' - after years of flat head sixes -
the Magazines weren't reviewing them - they were a niche' item -
"Expensive" - and rare...... a : "who?" item.
So,
AMCs' are a 'Joke' - is straight from the lips of the illiterates
who looked at pictures, could barely read - found solace
amoung other illiterates during a BSsession remembering
an AMX or Machine picture seen in Car Craft - vaguely , & would
dump on it in order to have someone and something to talk
to and / or about for a generous 45 seconds.
AND - it hasn't changed much - EXCEPT, that now with the .net
and as more 'Culture of Oddly Cool' permeates the Cruise In's,
AMC is now strangely, the Darling of the Shows for the Spectators -
and
many 'other brand' car owners who appreciate 'Art Cars'.
This is not to say that you will not catch a heel on the 'ruts' in
the Astro Turf while at the Shows:
God is still making 'dumb asses'
with XXL sleeve lengths -
and their slow growth stories revolve around
Brand Loyalty and your ride is a pig...... 'perfect dinner
guests'..... by any : standard ;) .
I was going to pass on sending this in, except the blood trail
john 'the impaler' mahoney has been leaving during his rash
of AMC Ax Murders recently wasn't attracting any flies -
goes to say , collectively, we're a mostly 'bludgeonedly
contented' gathering of souls........
....... so STICK IT where the Sun Shines John M. !
& don't let the Japanese Customs Officers find it in your
carry on when they're 'tossin ya' after disembarking ;)

I never got into the IRS end of it, Yet.
It may well be easier to do a Jag rear then the Vette.
On FeeBay right now in ALamaba is the perfect donor car. 1984 Flood Vette, Tuned port pulled and replaced with a Quadrabog, gutted missing interior, supposedly runs, Salvage Florida title, 16" cenetrlines, good skins, It was at like $300 yesterday with two days to go. No reserve. If it goes cheap it would be as clos eto a freee suspension as you can find. Alas, It is too far for me to try to acquire in my current condition.

So I'm leaving the library and it is raining. The
first rain since Aug 2. Everyone left their windows
open and an office "secretary" comes out at a fast
clip. She is dressed perfectly, short tight skirt,
perfect heels, nice rack, etc. Definately not hired
for her typing skills. Her car is an Avalon and it is
open, so she walks in the grass to close the window.
Her heels sink into the suddenly wet grass and she
goes down. She is trying to maintain some dignity and
stay perfectly groomed, but it aint gonna work. Her
hands and knees get dirty, her heels are mired and she
is at a weird angle. Her dress is riding up and she is
trying to stand and pull down her hem at the same
time. What a show.
Now I know you guys and gals are saying I am cruel for
not assisting but I am laughing, inside of course, my
fool head off at the sight of a grown adult being
trapped by a two foot patch of grass, in the middle of
the city.
Finally an appropriatly dressed woman comes over to
assist and my fun is over.

#7120 was used '91-5. #0630 was used '96-8 and is nearly as good;
#0331 '99-up and is widely considered crap: small ports and prone to
cracking. only plus: coil pack mounting bosses for dis.
the intake that goes with the #0331 is better than the '91-8; some say
it's good for 20hp - and a like amount of torque - just by itself. it
still fits all ho heads.

Why write: "It's some Nash Rambler" and not "It's a '69 AMX 390/325"?
Old cars that aren't butts of jokes earn respect through performance.
On the racetrack, on the show field, and in [paper and online] print.
MCR might add an AMC to its recent coverage of the 1974 Buick Apollo.
All they need is a growing and spending collector car market for AMC.
Start that trend with your own words and actions: virtual and online.
Leave the "no va" stories to the other guys. And don't believe those "The name meant 'Nova, Omega, Ventura, and Apollo'" historians either. If AMC is as hot as you profess it is, and you're cool being AMC fans, then put the pedal to the metal and make AMC information better than.
Pick a make; choose an era: learn from the worst; model on the best.

That's the kind of information that should make Big 3 fans take a new look at "dumb old Rambler" --- but it's also the kind of info no real AMC fans seek. It might require looking beyond comfortable confines, studying seemingly unrelated things, and keeping an eye open for the unexpected. It might demand hard reading and involve major headwork.
If head work is a way to make more AMC power, head work is ridiculed?
Stop and smell the carbon: before you --- and AMC --- are fossilized.

Against my better judgment (unless that train left about ten years ago), I will lay something else on you. Before the Tarpon, before the Marlin, before the '67 Rebel and Ambassador were finalized, three 1963 cars were built in a Big 3 plant. It took production convertibles off an assembly line and sent them to an even more specialized plant. The cars were torn down and rebuilt: their hoods, front fenders, front and rear bumpers, inner and outer doors and trunk lids were handmade in --- fiberglass. They were rebuilt as, gasp, fastbacks. They also were given new rear suspensions.
(If you're as smart as you think you are, you know from which '63 car...)
They were sent to the left coast, where their motivation was questioned, and a mysterious ministration (smoke and mirrors) was done to their iron hearts.
They were about to face the world --- at least the world of Ford, Mopar, and the last of the independents (do you know all you want to know about the final racing history of -Studebaker-?) --- but they never did. No, something happened. And then were to be sent to the trash heap of automotive history. How sad.
The rest of the story is fascinating. They died, yet they lived. They did exactly what they were built to do.

Bash [the good and bad truths of AMC] and they will continue to laugh.
Look beyond the AMC myopia.

I have 1975 & 1976 Pacers who are looking for a good home. I know
there are enthusiasts (like me) out there who would really enjoy
fixing up these cars. The '76 is red and was actually my 1st car as
a teenager, and I accidentally used it to hit a road sign. It has a
leaf spring through the floorboard...it hit the back of the driver's
seat. It also has some minor front end damage and is damage to the
rear corner on the driver's side. My husband installed a really
nice stereo, but when we parked it, we took that and the seats out
of it to save them from the weather. Unfortunately, the stereo was
stolen, but we still have the seats. It has a clear title.
The '75 is light blue and I had intended to use it as a parts car
for two reasons: one, I don't have a title, and two, the floorboard
is rusted through in several places. The seats are white leather
and still look nice, though.
I wanted to keep them until we saved enough money to fix up the '76,
but one mortgage and two kids later, saving is the opposite of what
