My back decided to have a relapse friday so I am back to square one
where I was 2 weeks ago. My landlord complained about an oil stain on my
garage floor. A good AMC friend came over and spent an hour cleaning up
the garage for me, I took him out for breakfast. I then picked my wife
up at church as I need her to do the grocery shopping I am not able to
do because of my back. Any one in The AMO know's of Steve Green, one of
the largest collectors of original low mileage un-restored AMC cars. His
ware house is 6 blocks from where I live and has about 50 cars in it.
While sitting in the supermarket parking lot waiting for my wife to come
out a guy  stopped to compliment me on my orange Hornet telling me he
knew of 2 places to get parts for it. It turns out to be the mechanic
that services all of Steve Greens AMC collection. Now this is a person
who has worked on the best low mileage mint original AMC's in the
country. He say's most of his work is repairs from non use. What a shame
not to drive one of these beautiful cars once in a while. Any how praise
on the job I have done on my orange Hornet from someone like that made
all the work and money I spent more than worth while. He gave me his
card and invited me to his shop to see a couple of Steve's cars he is
working on. I am going to bring him a copy of the Classified American so
he can see there is way more places to get AMC parts than the only 2 he
know's of when my back is better. Since I got the car out of my friends
shop after Christmas and had the seats done to finally finish the
interior after 11 months and had the paint polished out I have had
nothing but compliments daily on the car from people I didn't know not
counting the many offers I have had to sell it. Fat Chance of me selling
it. I am having to much fun driving it 5-6 days a week. I was planning
on going to one of the local cruise night this week since for the first
time we are supposed to have a rain free week but my back problem has
put that out of the question.

where would i be able to find poly bushings for the front of my 62 classic? i have found the rubber ones. also, is there anywhere that has trunnion kits for less than 130-150 EACH?? will amx a arm bushings work for my a arms? or are they different? maybe some of you have been following my plans on the suspension. if i go with rubber bushings, i feel i will be defeting some of my purpose. the triangulated rearend kit i got is poly. 
  on another subject, does anyone know how strong the t-5's that came in the jeep cj's are? will they stand going behind a 304 with mild usual bolt ons. if not, gears and rebuild kits from say a mustang should fit right in right?? i like where the shifter is positioned on the jeep t5. i can retain my bench seats. 
   
  frank, i stumbled on your bright blue wagon pics on hotrodders.com. it is beautiful. is that the same one in all the pics with the flames that got totaled? i didnt see any flames on the one that got wrecked. i found your article on putting jag rearend in also. i need to stop stumbling across your stuff.... your making me contemplate things.... hehe. did that jag rear ride well back there? i have thought about a hiedts rear but i cant drop that kinda green. enlisted military single income... sucks.    anyway. all take care and have good day.

What does "bounce" mean ? I'm not doing anything on my end other than
reviewing people's posts and maybe, a total of 3 times posting myself.

Some asked about disassembling the bucket seats in a
Typhoon (64 Rambler classic).  As I recall, you need
to remove the seat adjustment handle, then remove the
chrome or plastic escutheon (sp?)which wraps the front
and sides of the seat bottom.  You should see a large
phillips head bolt on the outside of the seat.  Remove
that and you can pull the seat back up and away from
the seat bottom.

I have a 69 232 I will give you for free if you pick it up.
I also have a couple of American auto transmissions you could have too.
The 232 has 75k on it and ran well until I pulled it for a 4.0L swap.

If you mixed the covers or dampers from the different engines, you need to mark the damper for TDC to get it right. I used a 232 damper with a 4.0L [why can't we call them 242?] for a while and had to do so. It's way off! If your trying to time it with a mix of 258 and 4.0L parts thats your problem.

AMC team,
First let me say thanks to RetroRalph for answering my "bouncing"
question. I will keep an eye on that from now on.

Do you folks know if the factory tach in the Go Pack cluster is
repairable or is it something that needs to be tossed ? I just broke-in
my motor and had to use a dwell meter since the tach wasn't working. The
tach was dead on my gauge pack but worked on my buddy's donor gauge pack
which was a "known good" cluster. I don't see any serviceable
subassemblies/parts listed in the factory 67-72 parts book. Please
advise. All the other pods seem to be working fine.

AFIK, the AMC instruments in the 70s were King-Seeley
(sp?) and should be repairable by any of the
instrument repair places that advertise in say,
Hemmings Motor News.  Why not do an internet search
and find a shop and give them a call for a quote.
