Re: [AMC-List] Corrections to: AMX disk brake kit for 62 classicMOPAR A/B donor-8 3/4

" O.K., a few more moments was spent in researching my files and this is
" what I came up with for what ever it is worth.
"
" SNIP
" but the last year a-bodies had the 8 3/4" was '71.
" SNIP
"
" Usage: Heavy Duty, Built: 57-74, A-Body: 66-72, B-Body: 62-74, E-Body:
" 70-74

<grumble> ok, i was off by a year...
;^/

" Rear Axle Installation Dimensions
" A-Body '60-76 track 55.56" Perches C-C 43"
" B Body '62-70 track 59.20" Perches C-C 44"
" B Body '71-79, R-Body '79-81 Track 63.4" Perches C-C 47.3"
" E-Body '70-74 Track 60.70" Perches C-C 46"
" Note these are Chrysler's Spec. Actual parts may differ and often do!
" (is that really a surprise?)

this is going into my permanent file...

" All 8 ¾ axles built for A bodies carry a small-bolt 4" lug pattern and
" small 2 5/16 register flange.

my napa brake book clearly shown '73-6 -disk-brake-only- a-bodies
already having 5 x 4 1/2", and lists the same rotors and drums as
aspens, coronets, chargers, diplomats, miradas... and btw the drums
are 10 x 2.5". the drum-only and earlier disk brake a-bodies are
shown as 5 x 4".

" This can be changed to the 4 ½ " pattern by swapping in axle shafts with
" hubs in the larger pattern. Then B-body 10 or 11 inch brakes bolt up to
" the A-Body housing and fit the 2 13/16" registers on the new axles. This
" gives the option of using standard AMC wheels on this axle.

certainly the bolt circle can be changed by swapping shafts, and if
you were going to do this with an 8 1/4" rear i'd suggest replacing
the diff with a '95-up and going from 27 to 29 splines. i don't know
if you have to change bearings or seals as well, but i suspect not,
