Jeff Foxworthy would have a field day with me. 1973 AMC Matador 2 Door 304 V8, Auto, AC. California Car, just recently moved to Illinois. Undercarriage is pristine. Car has been garaged for the past 10 years. Body is straight and rust-free. This vehicle has never been restored - She has always been well cared for. As it's an AMC, I really don't know what a realistic value is for this, so I'm leaving the asking price off for now. Even if you're not interested, I'd appreciate your input on it's value. To bad I don't have the room as I too have to many cars. I would seek an professional appraiser to get a base line on what the car is really worth and go from there. I think Eddie Stakes had a low mileage 71 2dr low mileage car but had it for sale for a couple of years before it sold. Good luck. Go to Maaco (everyone stop snickering) and ask for their top paint job. Get some extra coats of paint and clear. Then have it wet sanded after the paint cures and buffed out. New window seals and becareful about putting on the bumpers. I don't think you will be into it more than $1500. It is usually poor preparation that kills their jobs. A friend poorly prepared his Javelin body work wise and just had Maaco scuff it and shoot it. It was masked pretty good and painted a metallic gold. The paint had no runs or dirt and had a real nice gloss. In some metallic's the metallic in the paint runs and not the paint, it didn't even have that. All in all if the preparation had been done properly it would have been a real nice job for a real reasonable price. Needless to say the poor initial preparation made it look like a real smear job. I'd go for a couple of those. If they were even into odd, i'd go for a Pacer too. The scale and detail is not bad as compared to the horrible god only knows what scale it is Corgi James Bond Hornet. The just released Gremlin makes a nice display model for the non model builder and a nice base for those of us who build models and have the skill to modify them.
