As much as I hate to let her go, I'm getting too many vehicles. Jeff
Foxworthy would have a field day with me.

1973 AMC Matador
2 Door
304 V8, Auto, AC.

California Car, just recently moved to Illinois. Undercarriage is
pristine. Car has been garaged for the past 10 years. Body is straight
and rust-free.

This vehicle has never been restored - She has always been well cared
for. I've owned it for 10 years, purchased from my father-in-law who
owned it for over 10 years.

Of course, I want more for the car than it's worth.
As it's an AMC, I really don't know what a realistic value is for this,
so I'm leaving the asking price off for now.

Even if you're not interested, I'd appreciate your input on it's value.

Thanks,
Rus

What a beautiful car for some one who wants to enter the AMC hobby and
have an immediate driver and not a project car. To bad I don't have the
room as I too have to many cars. I would seek an professional appraiser
to get a base line on what the car is really worth and go from there. I
think Eddie Stakes had a low mileage 71 2dr low mileage car but had it
for sale for a couple of years before it sold. Good luck.

The following will be them payouts for racing at the '06 AMC NATIONALS to
be held Sep. 14-16 at Cordova Dragway Park, Cordova, Illinois:

The Friday night AMC Gamblers race will pay 60% to the winner, 20% to the
runner-up and 10% to the semis. The entry fee is $25 (with all entry fees
going back to the payout. If 20 or more entries (and there has been)
NAMDRA will add $100 to the purse.

For the 3 AMC Brackets on Saturday this is the payout:
Super Pro (0-11.99) Boxes allowed
Pro (0-13.99) No Boxes
Street (14.00up) No Boxes

Winner - $245 + $245* Runner-Up - $125 + $125*
Semi - $65 + $65* 1/4's - $35 + $35*

There will be a Consolation race for all 1st. round losers. Entry fee for
this will be $20 with a 60-20-10-10 payout.

All winners of the brackets and consolation race (4 cars) will come back
for the "AMC ELIMINATOR" race.
The winner of the "AMC ELIMINATOR" race will receive $575 + $575*.

NOTE - The * after the payouts is contingency money. You must be a member
of NAMDRA before the start of the AMC brackets to collect this
contingency money.

As you can see, one person could win $1640! Not bad for an entry fee
(pre-entry) of $35 or $5 more at the gate.

If I didn't already have more cars than I need, I would be very interested
in this car. Story of my life.

The original is a clicking around corners locking differential that when power is applied and one wheel spins it locks to send power to both wheels.-

Is the rear window off the Hornet and 85 Eagle wagons
interchangeable? I found an eagle loaded to the gills
and I want to put heated windows on my 73.....Russ

Justin; Grab your tool box, fly out there and buy a
box full of breakdown supplys. Then drive the car
home!! If you have time off, this is the best(?) way
to get it home......Russ

Kim; If the car is straight, take off all the chrome
and the windshield, take off the rear hatch and wing
window.
Go to Maaco (everyone stop snickering) and ask for
their top paint job. Get some extra coats of paint and
clear. Then have it wet sanded after the paint cures
and buffed out. New window seals and becareful about
putting on the bumpers. I don't think you will be into
it more than $1500. And Maacos top paint job is a real
nice 3 foot paint job.......Russ

Why is it that when I use the List's linked form to post, I am not
seeing my post for days or not at all?? As before, I sign in, hit
post message link, type my questions (Not smart enuff for wisdom), and
then send it off using the send mail "button".

I have been off and on recently due to traveling for work, I know that
there were some changes made in the server, but I would think that all
links would have been adjusted as well..

Someone please educate me..

Russ is right about Maaco. It is usually poor preparation that kills
their jobs. A friend poorly prepared his Javelin body work wise and just
had Maaco scuff it and shoot it. It was masked pretty good and painted a
metallic gold. The paint had no runs or dirt and had a real nice gloss.
In some metallic's the metallic in the paint runs and not the paint, it
didn't even have that. All in all if the preparation had been done
properly it would have been a real nice job for a real reasonable price.
Needless to say the poor initial preparation made it look like a real
smear job.

I wonder what we could do to convince Motor Max to possibly make a
Hornet Hatchback or a SC360 or even a Sportabout wagon. I'd go for a
couple of those. If they were even into odd, i'd go for a Pacer too. The
scale and detail is not bad as compared to the horrible god only knows
what scale it is Corgi James Bond Hornet. The just released Gremlin
makes a nice display model for the non model builder and a nice base for
those of us who build models and have the skill to modify them.
