I've got "American Air" on my 84 Eagle. The guy I bought it from was originally from Montana, and had it installed when he moved to Phoenix. It does integrate better than the old under dash units, but there are still differences. The "package tray" is black, and not a package tray but an air duct only. There are two different fan motors, and the A/C is recirc only. Oh, and those wonderful old vents still work, not there with factory air... AMC had the units custom made for their cars by one of the larger aftermarket manufacturers for dealer installed units. This was common in the mid sixties through mid seventies at least. By the early 80s almost all cars came equipped with AC, or at least had the same vent work and wiring whether AC was installed or not. I'm not sure who the actual manufacturer of the units was, and I don't have the unit stored where I can get to it. I believe the manufacturer was out of Texas though. > > On January 25, 2006 Ray Mick wrote: > > > I have this on my 71 Javelin > > On Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at 11:24 AM, > > <eddiestakes@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > > > I have a 73 Javelin with an American air conditioner built int the > > > passengers dash and a small diverter on the drivers side has anyone > > > seen this unit on any other amc.
