I've got an early 70s Gremlin/Hornet American Air unit at home. "American Air" was an AMC only name. AMC had the units custom made for their cars by one of the larger aftermarket manufacturers for dealer installed units. This was common in the mid sixties through mid seventies at least. By the early 80s almost all cars came equipped with AC, or at least had the same vent work and wiring whether AC was installed or not. I'm not sure who the actual manufacturer of the units was, and I don't have the unit stored where I can get to it. I believe the manufacturer was out of Texas though.
